Seeing what’s right in front of you
By Gary Hirsch (OYF Co-founder and Partner)
In early April I decided to go into the office for one of the first times since quarantine. I was alone, it was empty and I had a plan. I was going in to get things in order, check on things, and to be busy. When I arrived I grabbed the mail, turned on lights, started towards my desk...and in the middle of it all I paused. I sat down and just did nothing. A minute passed, then another. That was when I noticed an obvious thing, it was the writing of the actual mural that I myself had painted. It had already become invisible to me, part of the background, something to pass by on the way to do important things. I just stared at it and kept noticing more. The images below emerged from that moment. P.S. I never got my "work" done.
